Chess

One of the games we have in the library is checkers or as it is called here draughts.  The high schoolers really like it.  We only had one board.  In the process of looking around Dorris the other missionary that has been here for a while wanted to teach the kids how to play chess.  So when we were in the city we found chess and checker boards.  Dorris also has some sets.  So we found a time on a Sunday afternoon to teach the Form 3 and 4's (Grade 11 and 12) to play chess.  I had never played in my life.  So my roommate Jillian new how to play so she gave me a quick leason.  We had 10 kids show up which was a perfect size.  We set the up in front of a board.  There was some teaching on line that we played while they learned.  Then let them try it out.  It was a good afternoon as you could see the ones that were really getting it.  Since then they have been asking when they can play again.  So I will set some time up in the library for just the older kids to continue to play chess.
