Time with Friends

As well as relaxing and getting the library cleaned up and ready for Sept. I take this time to spend with friends.  Once again this year I had the privilege to spend time with Irungu and his family.  We spend the day visiting is Mom.  Irungu's Dad passed away from cancer two year ago.  I was in Kenya when it happened and was able to be here for the burial.  In Kenya often after the first year they have a celebration for the person that passed. Once again I was here for that last year.  This year was nice just to go and visit.  Irungu has four kids.  Three boys and one girl.  Grace is the youngest.  She is almost three year old.  And adorable of course. We have connected ever since I came back this year.  Irungu's youngest boy Brian attends PACE and is in class 2.  So I get to see him every day.  Irungu's parents also have a garden full of Orange trees.  So I also came home with a bag of fresh oranges. So, so good.  It was a blessed day.

Well I have started the work on getting the library ready for Sept.  First step washing all the toys.  As kids are the same all over the world many of these items are put in the months of the kids.

My Sweat Girl

Since I now have some down time with the kids home I was able to spend some time with my family here.  I can not resist the bragging rights of an aunt and had to post these pictures.  In my last blog I mentioned how much cooler it has been here.  Not the winter jacket she has on. She had this on in the house as well as outside.  I may be becoming more Kenyan but I would agree with the chose of jacket.  It was cooler.  Maybe not the 4 layers she also had under neither.

Busy Time

Well what a busy month. Sorry for not posting for so long.  Life here has been quite busy.  The beginning of July brought a team from Guelph for two weeks.  It was so good to see some Canadians.  When teams come to PACE everyone is around to help. I spent time with the team and helping with different activities that they were involved in.  There was a girl that came with the Guelph team that then stayed for an additional week to spend time with me in the library. Also the day after the Canada team left a team from the US came.  So for almost the full month of July we had teams here.  It was busy but always nice to see fellow North Americans.

The library continued to move forward in the month of July.  Being back in the library room has been wonderful.  It has allowed the kids access to more books, toys and games and a place to come and enjoy.

On Aug. 4th PACE school closed for the kids to go home for Aug. break.  They return to school Sept. 1 to complete there final term of their school year. The kids were very excited to return home to see there families after being at school for a full three months.  It was a little hard to see them go but new I would see them when they return.

Now I spend some time relaxing and getting the library cleaned and ready for Sept.  Lots of work but good and exciting work to get things ready for the kids again.

The weather here continues to be up and down.  Aug. is normally there coldest and has the most rain. Though we have had lots of rain in July.  Today is the first day of sun since Friday.  It has rained every day and almost all day.  It has also been much cooler.  For those of you who know how I tend to be cold all the time can imagine that I do not find it cooler but cold.  So to have the sun out today was great.  It also meant that I could get some close washed and dried.  I was reminded why I back so many tops and close.  It is for weeks like this when you can not wash and dry close easy or quick. But that is life here and it is good.
