Library is back

Well we have moved back into the library.  We have been there two weeks now and it has been great.  It has been nice to have a room to be in and to have all things in one room. There are the usual adjustments of new rules but that is normal.  The kids are happy to be back and look forward to coming in.

Our youngest.  He is a child of one of the teachers so often comes in as he waits for Mom to leave.  He is in the nursery school at PACE.

On July 1st the kids put together the 100 piece Canada map puzzle.

Canada Day / Kenyan Day

Well the day started fairly normal.  Woke at 7:00 to shower and wash some cloths. Then had something to eat and headed to town.  I need to visit the customer care place that my cell phone is through here.  They wanted me to confirm my ID.  So when we got to town we headed there first in hopes that we could get that over with first.  The line was huge so we thought we would do our shopping and then come back.

Once we were done with that we heading back and the line was still big.  It was about 10:40.  I needed to confirm the ID so I needed to wait.  Let me explain a little about how the customer care center works.  There is one person to help.  There are chairs set up and you sit in line waiting.  Often people will walk in and not wait in line and go right to the representative. And they will be helped.  This then delays that ones that have been waiting.  It is very frustrating to watch.  They are also only open three days a week.  Which seems crazy when they are always busy. So my waiting started.  I also was scheduled to be in the library from 1-2.  Now you may think that would give me lots of time.  But once an hour had gone by and I had only moved two seats I knew I was not going to make it home in time.  So Jillian left and headed home and went to inform the kids that I would not make it.  After the second hour I knew things were not good when the Kenyans I was sitting with were also not happy with the wait and the fact that people just kept coming in and not waiting in line like the rest of us.  You see in Kenya generally there is not rush for anything.  Waiting is just what you do and it is normal. So I knew that once the Kenyan’s were getting frustrated that it was okay for me to feel the say way.  It seemed that after some complaining was done some order was restored.  People were told that they had to wait in line like the rest of us.  The rains have come here in Kenya which is great.  But as I was waiting the clouds were coming and all I could think of is I really want to get this done and get back home before the rains come again.  Well after a three hour wait it was my turn and as I guested it took them 30 seconds to do what they had to.  The rain was little so I quickly found my bike guy and made my way home.

It was only lightly raining so I got home is safe time. Once home I had quick bit to eat and headed to the library.  The kids were ready to be in so I did a quick clean.  Because it was Canada day Jillian and I had planned to go out for supper to celebrate. We hoped to leave by 5 but Jillian was in a meeting that went until 5:30.  Well the rains had come hard.  We headed home to prepare to leave for supper.  I did not have good foot wear on and there was a huge puddle in front of the gate leading out of the school.  So I either go through it with my better shoes on or just take them off and go barefoot.  Let us remember that the roads that we live on are not paved and have rocks.  And it was raining.  I made it home safe but will not make it a practice.  Then we changed from our wet close to dry was and headed into town for supper.  The other things to understand in Kenya is to know that even if it says they have something on the menu it does not mean that they do.  So when picking what you want you have a few things on your mind as it is quite possible that they will not have what you first wanted.  My first choice was a hamburger.  No go so then decided on pizza can chips (French fries).  It was all very good.  We ended the day by coming home and finding no internet (not uncommon). So went to bed after a long day in Kenya.
